A CLEANER OAKLAND!
- COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTIONS TO END ILLEGAL DUMPING: We need to do more than just clean up on the weekend. We need to prevent illegal dumping and hold those who are trashing our city accountable. I lead the Alameda County Illegal Dumping Task Force in doing this and want to bring these solutions citywide.
- REVITALIZE CITY PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES: I led the effort to bring $4 million in state funding for violence prevention to revitalize shuttered East Oakland parks. No more missing grants! We need to aggressively pursue every opportunity to improve our public spaces.
- AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND HOMELESS PREVENTION: I developed Measure W to prevent homelessness, guided the Alameda County Affordable Housing Plan, and crafted the Alameda County Homelessness State of Emergency. No more half measure! We need comprehensive solutions that increase affordable housing and prevent displacement.
A SAFER OAKLAND!
- COMPREHENSIVE PUBLIC SAFETY SOLUTIONS: As the Chair of the BART Police Citizen Review Board, I understand that public safety requires a comprehensive approach. We need an adequately staffed police force, but we must also invest in youth programs, employment and apprenticeship opportunities, expanding our MACRO teams, fully staffing our 911 dispatch system and so much more. We need to go ALL IN on addressing public safety!
- IMPROVING TRAFFIC SAFETY: Implementing speed bumps and road infrastructure improvements is the least we can do, but we also need to enforce traffic laws. There must be consequences for coming into Oakland and taking advantage. Running red lights and stop signs, speeding down the middle of the road, and taking over intersections is unacceptable.
- BUILDING COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS: As a nonprofit leader working to address gender-based violence I understand that community is the heart of public safety. When neighbors are connected to each others, everyone benefits. Strengthening neighborhood connections and community organizing is key to growing and fostering resilient communities.
A PROSPEROUS OAKLAND!
- INCREASING THE QUALITY OF LIFE: Oaklanders deserve better! Our community deserves clean streets, safe neighborhoods, and public spaces we can be proud of. My plan for a cleaner, safer city isn't just about fixing problems--it's about transforming our quality of life. By addressing illegal dumping, revitalizing our parks, and implementing comprehensive public safety solutions, we can create a city where everyone thrives.
- BUILDING THE WORKFORCE: All public projects in the City of Oakland should hire locally and pay a living wage. We must expand apprenticeship programs and provide opportunities for Oaklanders to learn a skill while getting paid. Combined with my plan for affordable housing, we can create an Oakland where middle-class workers can thrive. If you work in Oakland, you should be able to afford to live here.
- SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES: Oaklands permitting and licensing services are a disaster. We need city services that support local businesses and developers in moving their projects forward quickly and efficiently. It should be easy to build a business in Oakland!
